Pigeon Wants Order....

Right here, Right now!

For about a month now we've held a family meeting once a week along the guidelines suggested in Positive Discipline
The first meeting though, we had nothing to serve as a talking stick, or reminder that only the person holding the object could speak. By the second week we had something. Something we found only slightly distracting and very amusing...
If you haven't read the Pigeon books, especially Pigeon Wants a Puppy, by Mo Willems, you'll have no idea what the joke is. Whether you have little ones or not, you just might get a kick out of Pigeon.

A moment for silliness

A.L. sent me a link to a site where you can make paintings online. It's like windows paint but even more limited. No matter, it was still fun.
See my painting here
Watch it paint in fast speed or skip to the end to see it completed.

Lurking Danger

Along with the myriad other reasons I have for homeschooling, I hope to keep my children safe. Sadly you cannot avoid all danger. A.L. (my daughter age 12) has given herself a repetitive motion injury, sort of a less serious form of carpal tunnel, from typing and writing too much.
At least I know if my child gets hurt in my home, it's doing something which makes me proud...

A song to share

My favorite musician by far is Glen Phillips. Known popularly as the lead singer of the now disbanded group Toad the Wet Sprocket. We recently got his album Mr. Lemons. It, as usual, is excellent. One song particularly caught in A.R.'s head (my daughter, age 8.) She isn't certain why she likes it so much, but I have an answer. It's beautiful. Glen has a talent for writing songs about God that no matter what form you worship are extremely moving. I hope you enjoy.
